The
2009 LF Performance Speed Event Series News
As the Series Coordinator I would to thank our very generous sponsors
Allied Metal Recyclers especially Mr. Dave Bartlett, they have supported
us in the last 4 years it has enabled the series to raise its profile
to a level of being the second tier of black top competition in
Western Australia, but unfortunately due to a change in management
their support has come to an end.
I would like to welcome LF PERFORMANCE PRODUCTS
as the new Speed Event Series naming rights sponsors, and I would
like to thank Kim Ledger for supporting our series.
LF Performance Products owned by Kim Ledger is
a modern well equipped W.A. organisation delivering up the combined
skills of five highly trained long serving craftsmen. The business
specialises in race car construction, rollover protection, technical
design and fabricated or CNC made products, engine and transmission
building, tarmac race / rally car preparation.
I will announce all of the class sponsors within 3 weeks.
I would also like to announce that our series administrator Ray
Shaw has decided to step down, Raymond has been involved from the
formation of the series in 1998 and if it wasn’t for people
like him and John Hurney this great series wouldn’t be here
today. The organising committee and I am sure everyone who has participated
over the years offer their thanks to Raymond and his wife Marion
for their assistance with their company EMAT.
We had a record 13 events during the year and have seen some outstanding
results, some down times e.g.; when our friend Dick Ward had his
off at the wind farm (and it’s great to see he is on the mend),
and very keen competition in some classes (ask Peter Corboy and
Tony Flood) and the emergence some excellent young drivers including
Grant Gellan, Matt Reid and special mention of Adrian Hornsey who
travels with his father from Albany to all the events.
Many thanks to our series scrutineers Rolly Waters, Frank Abborizio,
Tim Harland and Ivan Tan who have done a great job during the year.
Also all the CAMS officials and the staff at the CAMS head office
in WA who help us with administering our sponsorship monies, buying,
invoicing and paying accounts for us.
I would finally like to thank my committee Garry Edwards, Peter
Morley and a special thanks to Gary Mewett and his assistants Shayne
Farley, Matt Reid and John D’Espeissis for all the background
work and at Meelup Hillclimb and the Sundowner on the foreshore.
2009 is looking to being a very good year despite the economic downturn.
We have an exciting two days at Collie at the start of March and
I have been informed that we can have the Wind farm all day instead
of finishing early.
There are also rumours that a certain well known driver will run
a Pillbeam, and that another will run a new OMS, plus at long last
John Hurney will appear with his TVR, and I am looking forward to
the McMahons running the LOLA in 2009.
Thank you all for making this season so enjoyable and don’t
forget to register for the series as judging by 106 entries at the
sprint at Barbagello on Dec. 13th, if people aren’t registered
it may be hard at times e.g. Mt Clarence and the Wind farm to get
an entry.
Cheers

The
LF Performance Speed Event Series
With around 9-11 rounds per year, this avenue of motorsport allows
full-on race cars and street cars alike, the opportunity to get onto
the greatest black track circuits available in Western Australia including
Barbagallo Raceway, the same circuit as used by the V8 Supercars.
Collie Motorplex, another black track circuit, provides the same thrills
but without the hills. A couple of Hillclimbs complete the season
calendar, all being run as closed road events. Fastest time, in your
class, gets you the points for the day. The Speed
Event Series Calendar for 2009 is now posted, so download
your Series and Event Entry forms when they become available. If you
register for the Series, Event Entry forms will be posted to you when
available.
